Mary excitedly expressed to me with an infectious energy I’ve never seen from her before...
2 months prior, I taught her how to grow magic mushrooms for helping her heal familial traumas.
Now, in a cozy room she intentionally prepared in her own home, Mary sat...
Her home-cultivated magic mushrooms—
The golden teachers (a strain often used by the Mazatec grandmothers)—
Before her in a simple tea with honey…to bravely embark on a solo mid-dose healing mushroom journey guided by me from afar, as an adjunct to her parts therapy.
As someone who has explored the mystical realm of mushrooms for years, I was beyond thrilled to share Mary's story.
Her experience was nothing short of enchanting, illustrating the profound impact these fungi can have on one's soul.
Mary’s adventure began with the simple intention of healing her childhood traumas, a step that would eventually lead to what she described as a beautiful geometric dance across her body.
"They were so beautiful! I was so beautiful!"
...she exclaimed, her voice filled with the kind of awe only a personal revelation can invoke.
This powerful experience was uniquely hers, a personal message from the mushrooms reminding her of her intrinsic beauty, something that was absent in her childhood.
This transformation was no accident; it was woven into the very process of growing her own spiritual medicine.
But with intention.
As entities abound in the richness of water—over 92% in their makeup—mushrooms, like us, absorb the energies around them.
This nurturing process, echoing the primordial cycles of life, offers profound lessons in patience and adaptation.
The wisdom of mushrooms, with their mycelium forming complex networks underground, teaches us resilience.
Different civilizations, including the Aztecs and Mazatec people, utilized psilocybin mushrooms for religious and medicinal purposes. They often referred to them as "Teonanácatl," which translates to "Flesh of the Gods."
These tiny architects are considered adaptogens, substances that help us adapt to environmental stressors, a reflection of their mastery over billions of years.
8 billion-ish years to be specific…
A lot of people living in decriminalized areas interested in healing with psilocybin ask me how to grow magic mushrooms, but are intimidated by the process.
I get it…
It LOOKS intimidating…but it is actually quite simple.
How to grow magic mushrooms, you ask?
There are a few smaller projects which will require a short amount of your time, but the main things required from you for the whole process are:
Waiting and patience.
Growing magic mushrooms does require understanding a sequential alchemy:
Spores are designed to transcend space and time...so many theories suggest mushrooms are...extraterrestrial.
Here in Colorado, USA it is legal to buy psilocybin cultures, which is essentially liquid mycelium and is further along the mushroom life cycle than starting with spores.
This shaves off a couple of weeks from your total grow time.
Also, in Colorado you can buy fully colonized psilocybin spawn blocks...which cuts down even MORE time from your total grow time.
The environment (your mushroom house) allows you to control:
The ethnobotanist and mystic Terence McKenna was a strong advocate for the growth and use of psychedelic mushrooms. He famously believed that a symbiotic relationship with plants, including psilocybin mushrooms, could lead to profound spiritual insights.
Light, love and healing energy play a crucial role. I play singing bowls with healing intentions or classical music for my mushrooms.
Remember Dr. Emoto's water experiments?
Positive intentions and words like LOVE and FAITH created beautiful geometries like snowflakes.
Negative words like HATE created disorganized, confusing patterns.
Mushrooms are very similar. They absorb the energies from the environment which they were grown.
There are MYRIAD ways to growing magic mushrooms at home.
This echoes in the booming psychedelic mushroom market, projected to grow significantly as movements to decriminalize and recognize their therapeutic virtues gain momentum.
The U.S. psychedelic mushroom market was valued at approximately USD 2.25 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.5% from 2025 to 2030. This growth is driven by movements to decriminalize psychedelic mushrooms and increased interest in their potential therapeutic benefits.

With over 2 decades of mushroom cultivation experience to support you with, I am confident the method I teach in my book is for beginners and will:
The popular all-in-one kits are tempting as a beginner…
But let me remind you…

Why not do it in a way (the way I teach in my book) so you:
…for the time and energy you are already investing to grow your own mushrooms??
There is a world beyond ours, a world that is far away, nearby, and invisible. And there it is where God lives, where the dead live, the spirits and the saints, a world where everything has happened and everything is known. That world talks. It has a language of its own. I report what it says.
